My Chemical Romance has just released their latest makeup collection. The 2000s rock band collaborated with HipDot to create the cosmetics line. Like the rest of HipDot’s products, the new My Chemical Romance range is cruelty-free and made with vegan ingredients.
The band’s 2010 album Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys inspired the makeup line.
It features a white eyeliner duo set, a white primer pot, a four-piece lip gloss set, and an eyeliner palette. The palette features neon colors like green, pink, and orange as well as some metallics and a brown transition shade.
The eyeshadow squares each sport the outline of a spider, a nod to the Danger Days album artwork.
My Chemical Romance
My Chemical Romance launched their first makeup line in December. The Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge collection sold out immediately. Like the most recent launch, the 2020 range was also made with vegan ingredients and without testing on animals.
The launches are not the first time the band has made a statement about animal welfare. In 2008, peta2 (the youth division of PETA) released an interview with My Chemical Romance.
In the video, lead vocalist Gerard Way said: “The band is obviously opposed to animal cruelty.”
He explained that when he was in high school, teachers would punish students who didn’t want to dissect an animal in class.
“They’d give them a D because they didn’t want to dissect an animal … The kid should have a choice if he wants to dissect an animal or not,” the musician said. “The point is to learn. You’ll still learn the same way if there’s a good alternative, so why should you have to use an animal?”
He advised students on what to do if they’re faced with the same situation.
“First I think go to your parents. If your parents are kind of sh*tty or tough on you, or they don’t understand – guidance counselor. You can contact PETA and get them involved, or go to your principal.”
Way added: “Activism is expressing yourself.”
It’s unknown whether any of the band is vegan, but rhythm guitarist and backup vocalist Frank Iero has been vegetarian since childhood.
My Chemical Romance’s new makeup line is available to pre-order between July 22 and July 29. It will ship to Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, the UK, and the US.
