A foot-long vegan hot dog has launched in 125 restaurants across the UK.

The Moving Mountains Hot Dog is now available in Lounges eateries up and down the country – a response to what a spokesperson has described as ‘burgeoning consumer demand’ for plant-based options.

The dog, which Moving Mountains describes as ‘identical to its pork counterpart in taste, smell and texture’, is made primarily from sunflower seeds.

‘No compromise on taste’

“We’re delighted to partner with Lounges restaurant group to list our foot long Hot Dog,” Simeon Van der Molen, Founder of Moving Mountains, said in a statement sent to Plant Based News.

“Now, more consumers than ever before can access Moving Mountains, giving consumers more innovative and high-quality plant-based options when eating out that does not compromise on taste.”

‘Lots of demand’

Antony Bennett, Head of Food Development at Loungers, added: “We’ve had lots of demand from customers for delicious plant-based options in our Lounges.

“The Moving Mountains jumbo Hot Dog is not only really delicious, it also replicates a hot dog in every way and is created with natural ingredients including sunflower seeds.”

The hot dog costs £11.95 and is served with vegan Gouda cheese, fried onions, gherkins, tomatoes, pickled onions, American mustard, and red pepper ketchup.
