Billie Eilish and Joaquin Phoenix are helping bring plant-based meals to an LGBTQ+ youth organization.

In celebration of its first anniversary, Support + Feed has partnered with Monty’s Good Burger.  The initiative was spearheaded by Eilish’s mom Maggie Baird last year to help those ‘greatly impacted’ by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to support vegan restaurants in the Los Angeles area.

The charity has since expanded its US presence – with volunteers now working in New York, Washington D.C, and Philadelphia.

It has also widened its mission to help people experiencing food insecurity, particularly in BIPOC and other communities.

The collaboration will see vegan meals being delivered to My Friend’s Place, an organization offering comprehensive services to queer youth.

To celebrate the partnership, Eilish’s family and other core volunteers lent a hand distributing food. This also included star couple Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix.

In a statement sent exclusively to Plant Based News, Baird said: “It’s incredible to believe that what we started as a Covid crisis response to help people experiencing food insecurity by purchasing meals from small plant-based restaurants, has grown to be a real movement.

“What we imagined as a few months worth of effort became a year of full-time volunteering for so many and now, as we have seen the impact that receiving this nourishing, delicious food has had for people and also knowing that every plant-based meal we serve has a positive impact on climate change, we are more committed  than ever!”

‘We’re honored to celebrate Support + Feed’

Mara and Phoenix added: “At a time when most people were worried about their own health and security, Maggie dreamed up and implemented a plan to get nourishing food to people who needed it most.

“We were honored to celebrate Support + Feed’s first anniversary at such an important institution like My Friend’s Place.”

Moreover, Nic Adler is the co-founder of Monty’s Burger – a vegan food chain in California. He said: “Giving to those in need is built into the foundation of Monty’s. Partnering with S+F has allowed us to deliver plant-based meals to individuals and families in the most underserved communities.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the work that has been done over the past year by Maggie and her volunteers. True heroes in the greatest time of need.”
